Our Commitment

Developers Stack believes that education should be universally accessible. We are committed to ensuring that our Platform — including all websites, mobile applications, course content, and associated services — is accessible to people with disabilities.

Accessibility is not a checklist for us; it is a core design principle. We embed accessibility considerations into every stage of product development, from initial design through to deployment and ongoing maintenance.

Fully compatible with screen readers and low-vision tools

Hearing

Captions and transcripts on all audio-visual content

Motor

Complete keyboard navigation with no mouse required

Accessibility Standards

Developers Stack aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities.

Our accessibility programme also references:

  • EN 301 549 — European standard for ICT accessibility (where applicable)
  • Section 508 of the US Rehabilitation Act (for institutional and government customers)
  • WAI-ARIA 1.2 — for accessible rich internet application design patterns
  • ATAG 2.0 — to ensure our content authoring tools help instructors produce accessible content

We conduct accessibility audits on a rolling basis using a combination of automated scanning tools (axe, Lighthouse) and manual testing with disabled users and assistive technology specialists.

Accessibility Features

Developers Stack includes the following built-in accessibility features across the Platform:

Resizable Text

All text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality using your browser's built-in zoom.

Full Keyboard Navigation

Every function available with a mouse is also available using a keyboard alone, with visible focus indicators throughout.

Closed Captions & Transcripts

All video lecture content includes accurate closed captions. Downloadable transcripts are available for all courses.

High Contrast Mode

A high-contrast display mode is available in your account settings, providing improved legibility for users with low vision.

Screen Reader Support

The Platform is tested with NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver. All interactive elements include descriptive ARIA labels.

Motion Reduction

Animations and transitions are suppressed for users who have enabled the 'Reduce Motion' preference in their operating system.

Large Click Targets

All interactive elements meet the minimum 44×44px target size recommendation to assist users with motor impairments.

Plain Language

All key platform content is written at a reading level accessible to a broad audience, with a glossary available for technical terms.

Known Limitations

We are committed to transparency. The following known accessibility issues currently exist on our Platform. We are actively working to resolve them:

Video Player Controls

2.1.1 — Keyboard

ModerateIn Progress

Legacy Course PDFs

ModerateIn Progress

Older course PDF materials may not include full tagging for screen readers. We are systematically remediating these documents.

Live Stream Chat

MinorPlanned

Dynamic status messages in the live stream chat panel are not all announced by screen readers. Planned for Q4 2025.

If you encounter an accessibility barrier not listed here, please let us know using the contact details in the Feedback section below.
